Last summer I was asked to make a show on the history of immigration to Norway in an artistic way as a building mapping on Oslo's City Hall. Most of the parameters made the production close to impossible: small budget, VERY short deadline (I had a bit over a month to produce the show), and due to the production happening in the middle of the summer, nearly everyone who could have assisted me was away on holiday with their families (Alex!!!). My solution was to use dancers as a unifying graphic element, and portion out the fancy 3D mapping effects (which are very expensive to produce) sparingly throughout the show.

It was an exhausting project, but very rewarding in the end as the crowds grew larger and larger each evening and gave enthusiastic ovations to the show.

This documentation was filmed with a Canon EOS 7D thrown up on a tripod in the last moment, nearly in focus and by chance started just in time… :  )

How to make a building projection

During the festival there will be an opportunity to attend a presentation "How did you do that?" an informal and general discussion talk with examples, of how one of the festival architectural projections was made. Watchout V5, will be discussed as this is Lana Lights preferred software for building mapping.

Presented in two or three languages through interpreters.
