Two great loves combined in to one - Horticulture and Art. Phil created this show which was projected on to the gallery wall at the launch of his new website. Many of the designs are inspired by actual plant forms and colours which Phil grows in his own garden, designed in a 'new perennial' naturalistic planting style. New perennial plants are often long-flowering and easy to maintain; many blossom in late summer. Spent plants are valued for their seed heads, which are left in place over winter for the birds and insects to feed on. In Spring the 'natural cycle' starts again...

Phil OgdenAfter studying Graphic Design at art college he started out in animation where his first job was as a colourist for ‘Roobarb & Custard’ animations working at Bob Godfrey’s Movie Emporium in London.
As the multi-image era evolved he founded, and was Creative Director of, First Image, a digital design company focusing on producing cutting edge design for multi-image projections, videos and various multimedia events working with production companies based in the UK, USA and Europe. Much of this project work garnered over 30 design and production awards worldwide.
Phil moved back to the north of England recently and is now working on the production of a book based on botanical designs inspired by plants he’s used in his own garden. His garden design is inspired by the Dutch ‘prairie’ style encompassing drifts of pastel coloured perennial plants and ornamental grasses.
Having been inducted into the American Association for Multimedia “Hall Of Fame” and made a Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP), Phil also gives seminars and presentations to universities, colleges and design companies focusing primarily on consultations and insights into corporate events, installations and exhibitions.
He has also written articles for a variety of design and multimedia magazines.
"I am a Yorkshire born artist/designer based in the countryside on the boundary of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park. My garden is designed in a New Perennial Planting [Prairie] style with plants producing glorious drifts of pastel colours in summer and bird-friendly seedheads & insect shelters in winter.
"Living where I do allows me to indulge in my love of both horticulture and botanical art & design. My garden is the main inspiration behind my creating beautiful botanical imagery which I utilise in designing interior products & gifts for house & home.
"All items are handmade and as well as creating images in the digital design medium, I also work on textured papers with ink, charcoal and pastels."
